Dhenkanal, Angul as Smart Cities: Centre seeks Odisha’s view

The Centre has sought the opinion from the Odisha government on the inclusion of Dhenkanal and Angul under the Smart City programme.

In a letter to the state chief secretary Gokul Chandra Pati on February 27, Munish Kumar Garg, Director (Smart Cities) in the Union Ministry of Urban Development, referred to the letter written by the Chairman of Srimati Nandini Satpathy Memorial Trust (SNSMT), Suparno Satpathy to the President Pranab Mukherjee on the issue and urged him to ‘take necessary action in this regard’.

It may be mentioned that Satpathy had written a letter to the President Pranab Mukherjee on January 10 this year requesting him to include Dhenkanal and Angul under the Smart City project of the Centre.
