Chhatrapur Councillor murder: Odisha HC grants interim protection to 2 BJP leaders

Bhubaneswar: The Orissa High Court (HC) today granted interim protection from arrest to BJP leaders Golak Mohapatra and Bhrugu Buxipatra in connection with the sensational Chhatrapur BJD Councillor Laxmidutta Pradhan’s murder case.

The court also directed the police to submit case diary of the murder case. The next hearing of the case will be held on March 19, said counsel and senior BJP leader Pitambar Acharya.

Earlier on January 29, the Odisha police had served notice to the two BJP leaders asking them to appear before them separately on February 7 and 9.

On September 16, 2017, Chhatrapur Councillor from Ward- 6 Laxmidutta Pradhan was brutally hacked to death by a group of armed miscreants in front of his residence in broad daylight. After investigation, police had arrested 17 persons in this connection.
