China urges US to stop spying activities

Beijing, March 24:

China Monday asked the US to stop spying activities it was allegedly carrying out on the country.

Foreign ministry spokesman Hong Lei made the remarks at a press briefing when he was asked to comment on news reports that the US National Security Agency spied on China’s telecommunications giant Huawei, former leaders, foreign and commerce ministries and banks, Xinhua reported.

Hong said China was greatly concerned about the news reports.

He added that media organisations have recently disclosed a lot of eavesdropping, surveillance and stealing of secret information by the US, targeting other countries, including China.

Hong said that the US should give an explanation and stop such acts.
