Chittaranjan Patnaik no more

Noted Rotarian and former senior executive of Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) Chittaranjan Patnaik breathed his last today in the afternoon at a private hospital in New Delhi.

He was 79 and is survived by his wife Sandhyarani Patnaik and two sons Dharmaditya and Dibyalok, both are businessmen of repute.

Patnaik is the eldest brother of former minister and Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee president  Niranjan Patnaik and Sambad editor Soumya Ranjan Patnaik.

Born on September 21, 1936 Patnaik after completing his graduation from G M College Sambalpur had joined the RSP and had rose to the post of chief security officer. Later he was transferred to Bhubaneswar as the company’s liaison officer.

During his tenure as liaison officer Patnaik was instrumental in solving many outstanding issues between RSP and the state government.

After his retirement Patnaik worked as a consultant for many industrial groups.

An amiable personality, Patnaik was a known figure in socio-cultural circles of Bhubaneswar.
