CHSE gives deadline to striking teachers’ to join evaluation

The Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE) Odisha today reiterated its appeal to the striking teachers to join evaluation of answer scripts of Plus Two examinations by tomorrow.

The CHSE in its emergency examination committee meeting held today decided to appeal to the striking teachers to join evaluation work by tomorrow or else it will make alternative arrangements for getting the answer scripts evaluated.

“The examination committee at its meeting today decided to again make an appeal to the striking teachers to join valuation work in the interest of the students, their parents and the people of the state. If they do not heed to our request and continue with their strike we have made an alternative arrangement,” said Basudeb Chhatoi chairman CHSE briefing reporters after the meeting.

“As per the alternative arrangement we will request the authorities of government and private degree colleges, autonomous colleges and universities to relieve teachers who are not on valuation duty to make them available for valuation duty at the nearest valuation zone of the CHSE. We have asked the zone supervisors to give them appointments wherever there is a vacancy and those appointments will be treated as regular appointments,” Chhatoi said explaining on the alternative arrangement plan discussed at the meeting.

“We are not going to take any step in that direction right away. If they do not withdraw from their boycott of valuation of answer scripts, we will go ahead with our contingent plan,” he added.

The 662 and 488 category teachers continued with their stir for the second day today in front of the 49 valuation zones across the state. As a consequence of which no teachers or employees are able to enter the valuation zones completely paralyzing valuation work.

On the other hand, the CHSE has sought help from the police for smooth conduct of valuation work at the valuation centres. The CHSE chairman had on Monday written to the ADGP (Law and Order) seeking police help for smooth conduct of valuation at the valuation zones.

The ADGP today informed that ten platoons of policemen have been deployed at valuation centres to maintain law and order.
