Civil service coaching to be provided in 6 universities in Odisha

In a significant development, Odisha government has decided to open coaching centres at six state-run universities to provide coaching for civil service examinations.

The decision has been taken in view of declining performance of candidates from Odisha in country’s tough examination.

The government has sanctioned Rs 1 crore for opening up of coaching centres in Utkal University, Berhampur University, Sambalpur University, Rama Devi University, Ravenshaw University and Gangadhar Meher University.

While Rs 20 lakh has been sanctioned for Utkal University, Rs 16 lakh has been allocated for Berhampur, Sambalpur, Raveshawa, Gangadhar Meher and Rama Devi universities each.

With the initiative, the students from Odisha will have opportunity for better preparation to crack the IAS, IPS and IFS examinations.

As per the decision, the strength of the coaching centres will be limited. The professors, readers and retired professors will be appointed to provide coaching to the students. The class will be divided into few periods.

On the other hand, 11 universities of Odisha will be turned Centre of Excellence with the help of World Bank. The universities include — Utkal University, Berhampur University, Sambalpur University, Ravenshaw University, Fakir Mohan University, North Odisha University, Gangadhar Meher University, Rama Devi University, Khallikote University, Shree Jagannath Sanskrit University and Paralakhemundi ‘s Centurion University.
