Class I boy drowns while bathing in pond in Odisha 

Malkangiri: In yet another incident that questions the safety of children at residential schools in the state, a class I student of Gangala Sevashram in Malkangiri district drowned in a pond today.

The deceased has been identified as Amit Kalekura.

Sources said the boy, who was studying at Gangala Sevashram, went outside to defecate this morning. However, he somehow drowned in a village pond later.

On receiving information, police reached the spot and began an inquiry into the incident. The body of the kid has been sent to community health centre (CHC) at Pandripani.

Meanwhile, it is alleged that the incident occurred due TO negligence on the part of the residential school of the staff.
