Class-VII girl impregnated in Odisha’s Nabarangpur, accused held

Nabarangpur: A class-VII girl student was allegedly impregnated by a youth in Papadahandi area of Odisha’s Nabarangpur district.

Acting on a complaint lodged by the mother of the victim, police have arrested the accused, identified as Rajeev Majhi of Ghusurabedha village.

According to reports, Majhi had established physical relation with the 12-year-old girl on the pretext of marrying her. After the pregnancy came to fore, the girl revealed the incident before her parents.

“We have arrested the accused under the POCSO Act and various sections of the IPC. The youth and the minor girl were sent for medical examination. Further investigation into the matter is underway,” a police official said.
