Class-X boy killed in lightning strike while playing football in Odisha’s Sundargarh

Bhubaneswar: A Class-X boy was killed in lightning strike while playing football in Odisha’s Sundargarh district today.

The deceased has been identified as Sagar Kashyap. The incident took place near Sunday Market at Biramitrapur in Sundargarh in the afternoon.

The locality witnessed Nor’wester rain and lightning in the afternoon. The minor boy was struck by the lightning while he was playing football on a field near the market. He died at the spot.

In another incident, a 13-year-old boy was killed when lightning struck him in Boudh district in the afternoon.

The deceased has been identified as Rahul Kumbhar, son of Ranjit Kumbhar, of Talapada village under Baunsuni police limits in Boudh.

Lightning struck Rahul while he was playing near his house. The critically-injured minor boy was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital. He was later shifted to Sonepur District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) after his condition deteriorated. However, he was declared dead on arrival by the doctors at the DHH.
