Clean and Green promise

United we can – is the promise of five renowned personalities from Odisha who have been nominated as the brand ambassadors of the Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM) in the State.

Renowned singer Padmashree Prafulla Kar, internationally celebrated sand artist Sudarsan Pattnaik, athlete Anuradha Biswal, international chess player Padmini Rout and AIIMS, Bhubaneswar Director Dr Ashok Kumar Mohapatra have been nominated as ambassadors of the cleanliness campaign. They will campaign the message ‘Cleanliness Our Duty’ across the State.

The front running cleanliness programme of the Central Government Swachh Bharat Mission remains a major focus area for the Smart City project and the ambassadors of SBM would create awareness among the public on sanitation and garbage-free locality.

The Housing &Urban Development Department would soon prepare a programme to organize volunteers to support the brand ambassadors in spreading the message of complete cleanliness and open defecation free premises in urban areas of Odisha. The Centre has set October 2, 2019 as the target for accomplishment of SBM.

The personalities have been informed about their nominations and Department Secretary G Mathivathanan will convene a meeting of the stakeholders of Swachh Bharat Mission to prepare strategy to implement the mission soon.
