Clerk caught red-handed while taking Rs 15,000 bribe in Odisha

Subarnapur: A clerk was caught red handed by Odisha Vigilance while demanding and accepting bribe amount of Rs 15,000 here in the district.

Golaka Bihari Podha, the Junior Assistant of Sub-Divisional Veterinary Office in Birmaharajpur who was on a deputation at the Chief District Veterinary Office, was arrested by the anti-corruption sleuths today.

According to reports, the accused had demanded Rs 15,000 bribe from a Livestock Inspector to prepare documents for getting approval of the latter’s leave encashment.

As per conversation, Narayan Meher, the Livestock Inspector of Sindhol under Ulunda Block, gave Rs 15,000 to Podha at an official residence on premises of the Chief District Veterinary Office today.

The Vigilance officials, who had laid the trap to catch the corrupt official red handed, arrested the clerk while he was receiving the bribe amount. They also seized the bribe money.
