According to reports, angry people this morning resorted to road blockade along the National Highway at Chandpur demanding the immediate arrest of the assailants.

Meanwhile, the senior police officials of Khordha district have rushed to the spot with sniffer dogs and a forensic team for on-the-spot investigation.

However, the police are yet to nab the killers.

The shocking incident came to light when Sarat Patra, son of Kasinath Patra (65), working in a hotel in Bhubaneswar, arrived at his house at about 8 PM and found it locked from outside.

After succeeding to enter the house through the back door, he found to his horror his father, wife Suchitra, son Niti Sagar and daughter Sagarika lying on the blood-soaked floor.

While the assailants had slit open the throat of Kasinath and Suchitra, the two children had been strangulated.

The incident has sent shockwaves across the district and people in Chandpur are demanding the immediate identification and arrest of the killers. Many people suspect this to have been an act of revenge by enemies of the Patra family or the fallout of a dispute with relatives.

The police said they are on the job and would be able to crack the case at the earliest possible.
