CM inaugurates Biju Mahaveer Jaipur Foot Centre in Gurujanga

Bhubaneswar/Khordha: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today inaugurated ‘Biju Mahaveer Jaipur Foot Centre’ in Gurujanga locality near Khordha town of this district.

“Our mission is to provide artificial limbs to all differently-abled persons in the State. The manufacturing unit here will bring new hopes for them,” the CM said on the occasion.

Differently-abled persons are significant parts and also assets to society. Their proper rehabilitation is our prime concern. All of us should work together for their welfare and upliftment.

“The state government has been relentlessly working to provide them better healthcare services as well as taking steps for their empowerment through training,” the CM expressed.

A source said that Jaipur Foot Centre in Rajasthan has been manufacturing artificial limbs since 1975. The unit was founded by Padma Bhushan Dr D R Mehta as its Founder and Chief Patron under a banner named Bhagwan Mahaveer Viklang Sahayata Samiti (BMVSS).

Notably, the BMVSS has provided over 2.1 million handicapped beneficiaries with artificial limbs/calipers and other aids and appliances, giving them mobility and dignity. Dr Mehta has over time, developed it into the largest organisation for handicapped persons in the world.
