‘CMC undertaking extensive contact tracing of COVID-19 cases from AHRCC’

Cuttack: The Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) has been carrying out extensive contact tracing after six more persons associated with Acharya Harihar Regional Cancer Center (AHRCC) tested positive for deadly COVID-19, said an official of the CMC today.

The Commissioner of CMC, Ananya Das informed five staff including a doctor of the cancer hospital contracted the virus. This apart, a patient of the hospital tested positive for the virus.

Couple of days back, six patients of the AHRCC and an employee of the Aahaar centre on the premises of the hospital were found to be COVID-19 positive. Two nurses of the hospital tested positive for the virus infection on June 28.

The first COVID-19 case in the hospital was detected on June 24.

“More 300 persons as part of the contact tracing have been tested so far,” Das informed.

The cancer hospital authorities have been directed not to admit new patients in view of the rise in the COVID-19 cases, the CMC Commissioner said.

Today, seven persons from the CMC area including six persons from AHRCC tested COVID-19 positive.
