Cold wave conditions in Odisha to continue till Dec 25

Bhubaneswar: Entire Odisha shivered under intense cold with the temperature dipped in many parts of the state. The conditions may persist till December 25.

The mercury dropped below 10 degree Celsius in 10 locations in the state yesterday night. While Phulbani recorded the minimum temperature 5 degree Celsius, a thin layer of snowfall was found in Lamtaput area in Koraput district.

The minimum temperature in Daringbadi was recorded 5.5 degree Celsius, Hirakud (7.9 degree Celsius), Koraput (8 degree Celsius), Bhawanipatna (8.5 degree Celsius), Sundargarh (9 degree Celsius), Sonepur (9.4 degree Celsius), Angul (9.6 degree Celsius) and Jharsuguda (9.8 degree Celsius).

Similarly, Sambalpur recorded 10.2 degree Celsius, Balangir 10 degree Celsius, Titilagarh 11 degree Celsius, Cuttack 11.5 degree Celsius, Bhubaneswar 12.4 degree Celsius, Balasore 12.6 degree Celsius, Malkangiri 12.6 degree Celsius and Baripada 12.8 degree Celsius.

According to Bhubaneswar MeT, the weather will be dry in the next five days. The cold wave conditions will continue till December 25.

Dense fog was observed this morning in Bhubaneswar and its adjacent areas.

The IMD predicted shallow to moderate fog at isolated places over Odisha during next two days.

A low pressure area is likely to develop over south Andaman Sea and adjoining southeast Bay of Bengal around December 25, the IMD said.
