Cold wave grips central Odisha; Phulbani coldest at 8.5 degree C

Bhubaneswar: Cold wave gripped Odisha after Kartika Purnima with the mercury dropped in many places especially in central regions of the State.

Phulbani was the coldest place in the State with the minimum temperature 8.5 degree Celsius yesterday night.

Daringbadi, which is called ‘Kashmir’ of Odisha, recorded the minimum temperature of 10.5 degree Celsius at the beginning of winter.

The mercury is likely to drop further in the upcoming days.

The weather remains foggy in the morning and people experiencing cold till 10.00 am especially in the rural areas.

According to the regional meteorological centre in Bhubaneswar, the temperature is likely to fall after three-four days.

Meanwhile, the tourists from across the State and country have started flocking Kandhamal district to enjoy the winter.

The district administration and local volunteers are engaged in making arrangements for the visitors at major tourist destinations.
