Cold wave grips Odisha; Mercury dips to 7.5 degree C in Daringbadi

Bhubaneswar: Following cloudy weather, Odisha is reeling under cold wave conditions as the mercury remained below 15 degree Celsius at many places in last 24 hours.

As many as 12 places recorded below 15 degree Celsius yesterday night. While Daringbadi registered 7.5 degree Celsius, becoming the coldest place in Odisha, the minimum temperature dipped to 14.6 degree C at Chandbali, 14.5 degree C at Baripada, 12.6 degree C at Jharsuguda, 12 degree C at Keonjhar, 14.2 degree C at Hirakud, 13 degree C at Bhawanipatna, 12.5 degree C at Balangir, 14 degree C at Koraput, 12 degree C at Phulbani, 11.8 degree C at Titilagarh and 13.5 degree C at Sonepur.

Four places — Cuttack, Angul, Talcher and Nayagarh — remained at 15 degree Celsius in the last 24 hours. The minimum temperature in Bhubaneswar stood at 15.6 on Monday night.

According to Regional Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar, of India Meteorological Department (IMD), the night temperature will continue to fall in upcoming days.

The dry weather will prevail over the districts of Odisha in next five days.
