Cold wave sweeps Odisha; Phulbani shivers at 7.4 degrees

Most part of Odisha came under the grip of an intense cold wave today with the mercury dipping below 10 degree Celsius in five places in the northern and southern districts.

coldwaveAccording to a release by the Met department this evening, Phulbani recorded the lowest temperature of 7.4 degree Celsius followed by Sundargarh (7.9), Bolangir (9), Daringbadi (9.5) and Keonjhar (9.9).

Besides, Bhawanipatna (10.2), Koraput (10.6), Jharsuguda (11.2), Baripada (11.4), Dhenkanal (12), Angul (12.6), Baleswar (13), Sambalpur (13.1) and Titlagarh (13.5) were the other places where the night temperature came down appreciably.

The capital city recorded its lowest temperature at 14.1 degree Celsius.

Talking to the media, director, Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar, Dr Sarat Sahu said night temperature in most parts of the state would come down further in the next four days till November 30 due to blowing of north-easterly wind from the Himalayan region.

He also said there will be slight rise in the night temperature on November 30 after which it would dip gradually as the cold wave condition would intensify further.
