College girl abducted in Odisha capital, CCTV verified

Bhubaneswar: With a series of crimes and incidents are being reported in the smart city Bhubaneswar daily, another case was lodged after a college girl was abducted in a car here.

The police lodged a kidnapping case after verifying the CCTV footage.

The abducted girl was identified as a plus two student of Rama Devi (RD) Women’s college.

According to reports, the girl, who stays at Punjabi colony, was abducted in front of Kali Temple located in Satya Nagar area under Kharavel police limit three days ago.

The incident took place when a car obstructed the girl in front of the Kali temple on Janpath while she was going to a coaching centre for tuition at unit-9 area. She was allegedly dragged by the accused identified as Bishal Nayak to the car and fled the spot. The family of the girl came to know about abduction of their daughter when she did not return home and asked locals near the coaching centre.

Reports said that the accused Bishal, who stays inside Capital High School premises, had been chasing the girl in the past six months. Even, he had proposed the girl for love several times. However, she had rejected his proposal.

The family lodged a complaint with Kharavel police that filed the case after verifying the CCTV installed on Janpath road.

A team has been formed to arrest the accused. Following the report, a police team has been formed and raids have been conducted in various places to arrest Bishal.

The accused will be arrested soon, said Kharavel IIC Sanjeev Satpathy.
