Communal tension in Odisha’s Nemalo: Roads blocked despite Sec 144

Cuttack: Despite imposition of Section 144 of CrPC at Narendrapur village under Nemalo police limits in Odisha’s Cuttack district following tension over clash between two communities, road blockade was staged in nearby areas by locals today.

The prohibitory orders were clamped in the village yesterday after some irate locals set a police van on fire.

Residents of nearby areas today blocked roads by burning tyres at Barakolia, Naiguan, Bodhanga, Otri and Bargihaat opposing detention of five persons in connection with torching of the police van.

On the other hand, 10 platoons of police forces have been deployed in Narendrapur village to prevent any further untoward incident.

Notably, tension erupted in the village yesterday following a clash between two communities over a petty dispute. Two youths had a heated argument over quick overtake on the road. Following the incident, one of them approached few youths at Kakudiapada and they attacked another youth at his home injuring a woman and a minor boy.
