Community fridge to provide free food for needy in Odisha capital

Bhubaneswar: In a noble initiative, Bhubaneswar Knights Round Table and Bhubaneswar Queens Ladies Circle, two voluntary organizations, installed a community refrigerator at Sainik School Square here yesterday in a bid to store surplus food donated by people and restaurants with an aim of feeding those to poor people in the capital city who are unable to afford food.
Named ‘Annapurna Community Fridge Project’, the motive of the step is to collect surplus food from donors/restaurants/hotels, store it in the refrigerator and serve the food to needy people free of cost.
Moreover, the foods will undergo a quality check before being provided to the people.
While the first community fridge was inaugurated by Bhubaneswar (North) MLA Priyadarshi Mishra, it has been planned by the organisations to install four more fridges at Patia, Saheed Nagar, Old Town and Bhubaneswar Railway Station in the city.
