Complete relief job by Oct 31, Naveen tells collectors

Chief minister Naveen Patnaik on Monday directed the collectors of 13 cyclone and flood-hit districts to complete distribution of relief packages by October 31.

Presiding over a high level review meeting on post-calamity relief operation and reconstruction work in the affected districts at the State Secretariat here, Patnaik asked the concerned authorities to ensure early completion of enumeration of families whose houses have been damaged.

He also asked them to notify and display the list of the affected families in every block for the sake of transparency and public information.

The chief minister also asked the concerned department to undertake sanitation drive through the Gaon Kalyan Samitis in the disaster-hit villages to prevent diseases and epidemics.

He also directed the Energy department to complete restoration of electricity network by November 9.

The chief minister asked the School and Mass Education department to start the Mid-Day Meal (MDM) programme immediately for the children in the schools that have opened in the 12 affected districts.
