Con woman on the run arrested after 8 years in Odisha capital
Bhubaneswar: After eight long years, the Commissionerate Police yesterday arrested a con woman who had duped an investor of Rs 12.75 lakh in the state capital and later went absconding.
The accused woman identified as Kalyani Pradhan is a resident of Rani Apartment near Rajarani temple under Badagala police limits.
As per reports, the accused woman was running the agency from her house and used to lure investors with lucrative schemes. She used to assure gullible investors of two fold and four fold of their invested money.
Lured with the schemes, one Satyananda Satpathy of Nischintakoili in Mahanga deposited Rs 12.75 lakh in 2012. Kalyani had assured him of double return of the invested money in four years. After that when Satyananda did not receive the monthly interest, he tried to contact her. After getting no response, the man started visiting her house frequently to know the status of his investment. After a few days, the woman absconded.
Later, the victim lodged a complaint with Saheed Nagar police and an investigation had begun thereafter. Acting on a tip-off about her return to the house, the police conducted a raid and arrested her yesterday.
