‘Condition of Sri Mandir’s Roshasala not bad’

Puri: Justice B P Das Commission of Inquiry for Reforms in Sri Mandir, the 12th-century shrine in Odisha’s pilgrim town Puri, which visited the temple premises today said that the condition of the Roshasala (kitchen) was ‘not bad’ barring a few things that needed repairs and attention.

The Commission after inspection of the Roshasala said that the floor and drainage system has some problems.

It directed concerned authorities to complete necessary repairs within the next seven days.

The Commission recommended for use of industrial chimney, renovation of the drainage system, pressure cleaning, and sanitation measures.

“The floor will be repaired. Proper lighting arrangements will be made. Moreover, the broken door and drainage system will be renovated. Sanitation and toiletry system will have to be improved. The condition of Roshasala is not bad,” said Justice B P Das to reporters.

“The Commission has given its observations on several issues, mainly sanitation, hygiene, cleanliness, water availability, safety, security and ventilation. It has given various suggestions one of them is to constantly keep the Roshasala and Rosha Khala clean,” said Puri District Collector Arvind Agarwal.

Prior to inspection of the Roshasala, the Commission held a meeting with Puri District Collector Arvind Agarwal, Superintendent of Police (SP) Sarthak Sarangi and the five-member Roshasala Committee at the Sri Mandir office. The meeting was attended by officials, employees connected with the Roshasala and office bearers of Suara and Mahasuara Nijogs among others.
