Contractor attempts suicide over nonpayment of dues in Odisha

Rourkela, Feb 6:

A contractor today attempted to commit suicide here after failing to recover his dues towards completion of various infrastructural projects in Odisha’s Sundargarh district.

According to reports, Manoj Nanda, an A class contractor, resorted to such an extreme step by consuming pesticide after he failed to get an outstanding amount of Rs 25 lakh from Rural Development department for completion of a particular project.

Nanda was admitted to Ispat General Hospital (IGH) here in a critical condition. He is battling for life in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the hospital managed by a PSU.

He lives in a rented house in the Steel City with his wife and daughter.
