Contractor shot dead as Maoist terror continues in Malkangiri

Barely 24 hours after the brutal murder of two tribal villagers, the Maoists shot dead a contractor in Malkangiri district on Saturday afternoon.

According to reports, a group of armed Maoists today went to MV-90 village (Malkangiri village) Kalimela police limits on three bikes and asked a local petty contractor Govind Saha to come with them. When he refused, they shot him dead, Superintendent of Police Akhileswar Singh said .

The Maoists apparently had suspected him to have been a police informer.

Earlier, the left wing ultras had killed two tribals of Chintalaguda and Ramaguda villages under Bhejanwada block on late Friday night. Their bullet-ridden bodies were found on the outskirts of Bhejanwada village on Saturday morning.

The red rebels have been threatening the villagers not to cooperate with the BSF personnel.
