Cop among 3 Corona Warriors dies due to virus in Odisha

Berhampur:  Three Corona Warriors, including a police officer in Odisha’s Ganjam district lost their lives while discharging their duties  in  the fight against COVID-19, informed the district administration today.

The three warriors were Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Siba Ram Dash of Tarsingi police station,  Executive Officer Ashok Kumar Panda of Aska NAC and Section Officer Arun Kumar Behera of Jagannathprasad Block office.

Expressing deep condolence over the deaths, Collector Vijay Amruta Kulange said dedication and devotion shown by the three Corona Warriors while discharging their duties definitely set an example for others and indeed inspire others in the war against COVID-19.

“On behalf of the district administration, I extend our deepest sympathies to the bereaved family members during this period of mourning,” said the Collector.

Meanwhile, 15 Corona Warriors among 201 persons have tested positive for the deadly virus in the last 24 hours. The Corona Warriors include three from Berhampur Municipal Corporation (BMC) area, two each from Bellaguntha, Bhanjanagar, Chhatrapur, Hinjlicut and Suruda and one each from Beguniapada and Rangeilunda.

With detection of the new cases, the district’s tally surged to 11812,  including 3559 active cases.  However, 8136 have recovered in the district while as many as 117 succumbed to the disease so far.
