Bhubaneswar, Mar 10:

A man, a driver by profession, was allegedly mercilessly beaten up by the Chandrasekharpur police officials today over a petty issue, said sources.

“Sheik Ali (39), who is working as a driver for Abhipsa Construction Company, dashed hit his car against another four-wheeler late on Monday night near Fortune Towers. The PCR vehicle officials then detained him. The police today told Sheik they will release him if he pays a fine,” the construction company owner said.

According to him, Sheik asked his owner to pay the fine but when he refused, the cops thrashed him till he was unconscious.

The cops then rushed him to the KIIMS Hospital for treatment. The Chandrasekharpur police officials, however, didn’t disclose any details on the matter.

Meanwhile, the owner of Abhipsa Construction Company has said he will approach to the state human rights commission tomorrow over the inhuman behavior of the cops.
