Cortege of JB Patnaik begins in Odisha capital

The body of former Odisha chief minister JB Patnaik was taken out in a procession from his residence in the city this morning.

JB PatnaikAccording to reports, the cortege, accompanied by thousands of supporters and party workers, began at 11 AM from the house of Late Patnaik near Sishu Bhawan.

As scheduled, the body of Patnaik would be taken to Congress Bhawan where the party workers and leaders from other parts of the state will have their last glimpse of their departed leader.

The body would be kept at Congress Bhawan for about 25 minutes after which it would be taken to the State Assembly where the all members would pay their last homage.

The body would later be taken to the State Assembly where Speaker Niranjan Pujari and all members would offer floral tributes.

From there, it would be taken to his native village Rameswar near Khordha where the body would be kept for about half an hour.

From Rameswar village, the body would be taken to Puri via New Jagannath Sadak and Chandanpur for cremation at Swargadwara scheduled at 4 PM.
