Couple found hanging from tree in Odisha’s Pipili, murder suspected

Puri: Bodies of a couple were found hanging from a tree near Routpada village under Pipili police limits in Odisha’s Puri district today.

The deceased have been identified as Naba Prusti (27) of Haridaspur village and Soudamini Behera of Routpada. Preliminary investigation by police has revealed that both were in a relationship with each other.

Police also suspect that the duo was murdered and the bodies were later hanged from the tree with rope in a bid to give a suicide angle to the incident.

While locals believe that the two committed suicide by hanging themselves as their family members were opposing their relationship, presence of injury marks on the girl’s neck which were different to that of the rope has shrouded mystery over the circumstances under which they died.

Police have started investigation into the incident along with a scientific team.
