COVID-19: Complete shutdown announced by Sarpanch in this Odisha Panchayat

Balasore: Vested with Collector’s power conferred by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, Sarpanch of Markona Gram Panchayat in Balasore district declared a 48-hour complete shutdown in the GP as a preventive measure of COVID-19.

“The Gram Panchayat will be under shutdown from 6 am on May 14 to 6 am on May 16,” informed Sarpanch Pradeep Kumar Behera.

The decision was taken in public interest to prevent spread of coronavirus infection as large number of migrants have returned to the village from different parts of the country, he stated.

Earlier, shutdown was announced in three Gram Panchayats of Ganjam district after people were frequently seen roaming near quarantine centres to meet their family members and provide them food.
