COVID-19 Lockdown: Odisha teacher arrested for giving mass tuition

Kendrapara: A schoolteacher in Rajnagar block of Odisha’s Kendrapara district was  today arrested by police for violating  norms of the COVID-19 lockdown.

As per reports teacher Kalpataru Parida of Balarampur Upper Primary School in Kurunti Panchayat in Rajnagar block was giving tuition to as many as 80 students at one place this morning. On receiving information, police reached and arrested the teacher from the spot.

During the COVID-19  lockdown, the state Government has restricted congregation of more than seven persons at one place besides announcing closure of all educational institutions and private tuitions/coaching classes across the state. The state Government has appealed all the people of the state not to step outsides, unless it is  very urgent.

Meanwhile, locals alleged that the teacher has association with political leaders, despite being a Government employee . They demanded that the district administration take the matter seriously to avoid recurrence of such activities.
