COVID-19: Odisha increases sample testing capacity by over 100% in 2 days

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Government finally met its target of conducting over 1100 tests for COVID-19 per day as it tested the highest 1197 samples yesterday.  Moreover, no new positive case was reported yesterday, informed the Health and Family Welfare Department (H & FW).

With this, the number of samples tested in  the state on a single day increased by over 100 per cent in two days from 564 on April 13 to 1197 on April 15.

Recently, Secretary of Information & Public Relations Department Sanjay Singh had informed that with functionalization of a high throughput COBAS testing machine, the per day testing capacity at ICMR-RMRC here is set to reach 1000 per day. Besides, the COVID-19 test is being conducted at SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack, AIIMS Bhubaneswar,  Institute of Life Sciences (ILS), Bhubaneswar, MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur and Ispat General Hospital (IGH) in Rourkela. Besides , VIMSAR in Burla have received nod from ICMR  for setting up a testing facility.

Till date,  a total of 6734 samples have been tested, out of which 60 tested positive for the virus.  The number of active cases in the state currently stands at 40 while 19 patients have recovered.  The number of casualty is one.
