COVID-19: Eight persons booked for violating quarantine norms in last 24 hours in Odisha

Cuttack: The Odisha Police today said any conduct endangering safety of others in the context of COVID-19 will be dealt strongly as per law. As per an official statement, the Odisha Police registered three cases against returnees for violating quarantine norms or absconding from quarantine centres during last 24 hours.

In MV-79 police station of Malkangiri district, one case has been registered under sections 188/269/270/271/294 IPC/Section 51 of Disaster Management Act on the report of BDO Kalimela against three persons. The statement added the three persons were found wandering outside violating the quarantine norms.

In Orient police station of Jharsuguda district, a case has been registered under sections of 188/269/270 IPC / 3 Epidemic Diseases Act on the report of Executive Magistrate against one person for moving in a containment zone of the locality violating the norms.

Similarly, in Jagannath Prasad police station of Ganjam district, on the basis of the report of Sarpanch Gandadhar panchayat, a case has been registered under sections 341/323/294/506/269/270/37 IPC/3 Epidemic Act/ 51 Disaster Management Act against four persons for violating quarantine norms.
