COVID-19: One more coaching centre sealed in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: A private educational institute in Bhubaneswar was sealed for violating COVID-19 guidelines issued by the Centre and State Government.

The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) today sealed the coaching centre ‘Happy Classes’ situated at Jayadev Vihar area following a raid in the morning.

A notice mentioning ‘closed’ put up on entrance point of the Happy Classes after the North Zone squad led by Zonal Deputy Commissioner Purandar Nanda found the coaching centre violating the COVID SOP.

All the students and employees at the institute were asked to vacate the place to close the tutorial.

The BMC Commissioner Prem Chandra Chaudhary has instructed the officials for random raids in the city. As the infection rate is on rise, the educational institutions are under surveillance.

In view of steep hike in single-day COVID cases in Bhubaneswar, the BMC will continue conducting raids on various educational institutions in all its three zones today for strict enforcement of COVID-19 protocols, source said.

Last week, the BMC had sealed a private educational institution in Patia locality after many students and staff contracted infections.

Recently, a large number of COVID cases had been reported from many educational institutions including IIT Bhubaneswar in the city in second wave of the pandemic.
