COVID-19: Restrict entry of IT staff to office having recent travel history: Odisha police

Bhubaneswar: After closure of shopping malls and cinema halls  and restriction social and cultural gatherings, the Cuttack-Bhubaneswar Commissionerate Police today issued regulations to IT firms located in the Twin City to curb spread of COVID-19. The CP issued the regulations exercising their special powers under section 35 of Odisha Urban Police (OUP) Act.

IT firms have been issued the following instructions

  1. They will not allow any employee, who has travelled abroad in the last 14 days, to come to their premises, and force them to work from home for a period of 14 days. If he/she cannot work from home, he/she may be asked to avail leave as per the policies of the Company.
  2. If any employee is being visited by family members, who have travelled abroad, then the employee should self declare and stay in home quarantine for a period of 14 days.
  3. Any employee having fever, cough, etc. should not be allowed to enter premises. If possible, temperature can be taken using a non-contact thermometer at the entry point
  4. The Companies are advised to restrict all travels within or outside the country unless absolutely necessary and conduct such meetings using suitable IT platform.

“Any company failing to implement the above instructions will be liable for prosecution under section 100 of Odisha Urban Police (OUP) Act. The primary liability will be the head of the establishment. Besides they will be prosecuted under other Sections including 269,270 and 304 of Indian Penal Code (IPC),” read a notification issued by the CP.

Besides, all officers above the rank of ASI are instructed to visit IT Companies and initiate action in case of violation.
