COVID-19: Sero survey to begin in Odisha’s Cuttack city from Nov 2

Cuttack: The Government has decided to conduct sero survey in areas under Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) to detect antibody prevalence rate against Coronavirus.

The serological surveillance will be conducted jointly by the CMC and Regional Medical Research Centre (RMRC), Bhubaneswar in 25 wards from November 2 till 5.

The samples will be collected from one adult person in each family to study the antibody prevalence against COVID-19.

The first phase sero survey will be carried out between 8.00 am and 5.00 pm from November 2 to 5 in 25 wards under CMC, an official in CMC said.

As many five teams have been constituted and 14 sector officers have been deployed for the survey. The ward officers and sanitary inspectors have been asked to create awareness among residents for the survey.

The CMC has planned to collect blood samples from a person aged above 18 years in each family. However, the pregnant women will be exempted from the test.

The second phase of sero survey will be conducted in rest of the wards under CMC.

So far, the Cuttack city has reported 14,642 COVID-19 positive cases of which 844 are active 13,732 patients have recovered from the disease. The virus has claimed 66 persons in the city.
