Covid-19 vaccination in Odisha concludes from today!
Bhubaneswar: With decline of daily Covid cases across Odisha, the massive vaccination drive against the deadly virus will conclude from today in the state.
According to Dr Bijay Panigrahi, who is the Nodal Officer of Covid vaccination in Odisha, the Covid vaccination programme will come to an end from today onwards after administration of only 10 doses of Covaxin.
“Only 10 doses or 1 vial of Covaxin vaccine are in stock in Odisha which will be administered only in Rayagada district. From today onwards, the vaccination drive will not be carried out in other districts. Also, other vaccines — Covishield and Corbevax — are out of stock in the state since long, as the Centre has stopped supplying Covid vaccines to any state since October 12,” Dr Panigrahi informed.
With completion of Covid vaccination, Odisha will join the list of states that have successfully completed the programme.
The nationwide Covid vaccination programme was launched in Odisha on January 16, 2021. The healthcare workers and frontline Covid warriors were administered the Covid vaccines in first phase. Others availed the vaccines in phases.
So far, 8,14,54,064 beneficiaries have been vaccinated in Odisha, of which 3,52,64,700 (97%) have taken the first dose and 3,30,07,668 (91%) have been administered the second dose. Only 1,31,81,696 (40%) beneficiaries have received the precaution dose against Covid-19 in the state.
