COVID-19: New containment zones declared in Odisha capital

Bhubaneswar: The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) today declared new containment zones after detection of several fresh COVID-19 cases.

Sources said two persons of a house at Jayadurga Nagar in Bomikhal area have contracted the virus recently. Besides, several positive cases have been detected from another two houses in VSS Nagar area of Ward-11 here. Hence, the civic body declared the houses as containment zones to restrict public movement in a bid to contain further spread of the virus.

In larger public interest, the BMC directed officials concerned to ensure that no individual is allowed to move in the containment zone.

“All the inhabitants within the containment zone will strictly remain at home. BMC will supply essentials and ensure medical requirements for the inhabitants in the containment zone,” said BMC.

Nodal officers have been appointed to ensure smooth supply of essential items in the containment zones.
