COVID control: Enforcement to be intensified in market areas of Odisha’s twin cities

Bhubaneswar: In a bid to curb the rapid spread of COVID-19 in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack, it has been decided to intensify the enforcement of the norms in market areas of the twin cities of Odisha.

A decision in this regard was taken at a review meeting chaired by DGP Abhay in the presence of senior officers of the Twin City Commissionerate Police today.

The enforcement will be carried out in market areas and specified hotspots (which keep changing from weekend to weekdays), official sources said.

Additional fifty officers and 5 platoons of armed police will be engaged for the enforcement. The Twin City Commissionerate Police will collect more PPE kits and face shields from State Central Store and encourage their personnel to use the same.

Bhubaneswar will be divided in three zones for the purpose of COVID enforcement with one DCP looking after each zone, sources added.
