Bhubaneswar: In view of wide spread of COVID-19 in jails, Odisha Government has decided to release 221 more prisoners on a special parole.
A high-power committee of the Home Department approved it to decongest the number of jail inmates during second wave of Coronavirus infections.
As per the decision, 221 more prisoners will be allowed to get parole for a period of 90 days.
Earlier, 449 prisoners were permitted to go on special parole.
So far, 670 prisoners will be released from jails on parole.
