COVID swab stick gets stuck in minor’s food pipe in Odisha

Cuttack: A swab stick of a COVID-19 testing kit got stuck in the food pipe of a six-year-old boy of Odisha’s Balasore district while it was successfully removed at the SCB Medical College and Hospital here yesterday.

According to reports, the stick got stuck in the food pipe during collection of swab for COVID antigen test prior to the treatment of the ailing boy. The parents of the boy then brought him to the SCB Medical College and Hospital for removal of the swab stick from the food pipe.

Doctors of Gastroenterology Department of the hospital managed to remove the swab stick yesterday. However, the concerned officials are tight-lipped about place/health facility where the COVID antigen test was carried out.
