Bhubaneswar: Commissionerate police has collected over Rs 60 lakh fine in last eight months from offenders for consuming liquor in public places in Bhubaneswar.
According to a data released by the Commissionerate police, the fine amounting to Rs 67,40,140 has been collected for open drinking between January and August this year.
The data on open drinking from January to August shows that the highest amount of Rs 18,74,500 has been collected from 3730 offenders in August alone.
In January this year, total Rs 25,200 fine amount was collected from 504 offenders. The fine amount increased significantly for two consecutive months.
