CPSE 2018 Paper I re-exam postponed due to software issues

Bhubaneswar: The re-examination of Paper I in Combined Police Service Examination (CPSE) 2018 has been postponed due to software issues.

This was revealed by Odisha Police Recruitment Board (OPRB) Chairman Sudhanshu Sarangi.

“The re-examination of Paper I in CPSE 2018 has been postponed because of software issues. There were problems in downloading the question paper,” Sarangi said.

Regretting the inconvenience, Sarangi assured that no candidate would be denied the opportunity to appear the examination.

“The responsibility of conducting the examination has been entrusted upon a central agency. We have asked the agency to submit a report describing the causes behind the software glitches. Steps are being taken to conduct the examination within 15 days,” Sarangi said.

Sarangi further revealed that the authorities are mulling to conduct the examination at the district headquarters towns through OMR sheets.

“We will soon update the candidates regarding the examination through email. Appropriate decision will be taken to protect the candidates’ interests,” Sarangi said.

Many candidates today expressed their resentment due to the software glitches. Tension prevailed at several examination centres in Cuttack, Bhubaneswar and other places, sources said.

The examination was initially conducted in July and there were several errors in the Paper I. That is why the OPRB had decided to conduct the examination afresh today (Saturday). However, the authorities could not conduct the examination due to software glitches, sources added.

Sarangi, meanwhile, made it clear that the OPRB will not cancel the Paper II for CPSE 2018.

“Our experts have checked the questions of Paper II. They have detected only a few invalid questions. We will follow the Pro Rata method while evaluating the answer sheets for Paper II,” Sarangi said.
