This western Odisha town is soon going to have a cricket academy for women.

Asirbad Behera, secretary Odisha Cricket Association (OCA) made the announcement here at a function organised by the Balangir District Athletic Association to felicitate him.

Behera said OCA will provide all facilities to run the academy wherein women cricketers under the age of 19 will be provided with coaching.

Madhu Mehta and Roshnara Parwin, two women from Balangir, are playing for Indian team.

Local cricket coach Arun Naik said the proposed cricket academy will go a long way in tapping hidden talents.
