Crime Branch intensifies grilling as Baba’s remand ends

On the last day of the second phase of three-day remand of self-styled god man Srimad Sarathi Baba alias Santosh Kumar Raula, Odisha Crime Branch police subjected him to some intense and pointed questioning on his financial and land deals.

Ten of the Baba’s associates, including the treasurer and secretary of the Sarathi Samiti, were grilled by the Crime Branch police.

Crime Branch has been able to identify and locate eight acres of landed property in the name of Srimad Sarathi in the state at different places.

The agency today recorded the statement of Kailash Mallick, the complainant against Srimad Sarathi in front of the magistrate under section 164 of the CrPc.

The Crime Branch had got Sarathi on six days’ of remand in two phases after his arrest on Sunday.

The Crime Branch, during its interrogations and investigations, has come across more than 50 sale deeds of lands and over Rs 2.50 crore in more than 20 bank accounts of Srimad Sarathi. Sources said Sarathi was not very cooperative during the interrogations.
