Crime Branch to probe Chhota Rajan’s Odisha link

Bhubaneswar: Special Task Force (STF) of Odisha Crime Branch has taken over the investigation of underworld don Chhota Rajan aides’ arrest from Berhampur yesterday.

Crime Branch Special DGP Bijay Kumar Sharma informed this today.

“FIR alleges that the illegal telephone exchange was facilitating international calls and had linkages with organized criminal groups. A team of officers of STF and EOW, including cyber investigators is being deputed to Gopalpur. An additional SP is heading the team. Arrested accused in the case shall be brought on remand for custodial interrogation,” Sharma tweeted.

The four persons from Berhampur and Gopalpur were arrested yesterday for routing international calls through an illegal telephone exchange and alleged underworld link. Mumbai Crime Branch had traced the call to Berhampur from where a call was made to a Mumbai-based realtor demanding extortion of Rs 2 crore.

The realtor reported the matter to Mumbai Crime Branch that Hong Kong-based Chhota Rajan close associate Suresh Pujari had made the call to him.
