Criminal injured in police encounter in Odisha capital

A notorious criminal Rabi Rao sustained bullet injuries in an encounter with the Special Squad of the Twin City Commissionerate Police near the Cuttack-Puri bypass late on Sunday night.

Rabi, who has sustained bullet injuries on his right knee was initially admitted to the Capital Hospital here but was later shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital. Police have seized a pistol and three rounds of bullets from his possession, police said.
It was Rabi, who had first fired three rounds at the police and was injured in the return fire by the police, police sources said.
Rabi has seven criminal cases pending against him, which include robbery and murder. He is a resident of the Unit III area of the Odisha capital.
