Crorepati schoolteacher in Odisha Vigilance net

Berhampur: Vigilance sleuths today raided the office and residences of an assistant teacher of BB Pal High School in Gonju area under Sadar police limits in Ganjam district on charges of amassing property disproportionate to his known sources of income.

Acting on reliable information, four separate teams of the anti-corruption wing conducted simultaneous raids at various places associated with assistant teacher Sadanand Padhi.

During the drive, the Vigilance searched his chamber at BB Pal High School, his ancestral house in Gonju, a three-storey and a two-storey building in Ankuli area of the district. The team also seized three bikes and Rs 3.83 lakh cash from his possession.

So far, the anti-graft wing has detected disproportionate assets worth over Rs 1.5 crore possessed by the schoolteacher. Reports said Padhi has acquired the disproportionate assets by running a school illegally. Further investigation is on in connection with the incident.
