Crorepati senior clerk in Odisha arrested for amassing disproportionate assets

Bhubaneswar: Asit Kumar Nayak, a senior clerk at the office of Bhubaneswar RB Division-I, was today arrested by Vigilance officials  for amassing disproportionate property to the tune of Rs 5.23 crore .

On the strength of search warrant issued by the Vigilance Special Judge Court here, Vigilance officials yesterday had conducted  simultaneous raid at six places associated with him. The officials searched his office room at R & B Division- I and a triple storied residential building in Dumduma here, a duplex in Jatni of Khordha, a duplex and a flat in Berhmapur and parental house at Kaithapalli of Ganjam district.

During the search, Nayak was found in possession of movable and immoveable assets worth Rs 5,23,62,100, including cash of Rs 10.62 lakh, four plots, deposits in different banks and gold and silver jewellery.

“The total assets of Nayak and his family members have been calculated at Rs 5,23,62,100. The investigation is in progress,” said a release issued by the Vigilance Directorate, Cuttack.
